Cafe KIM

Café KIM

Café KIM opened in the Heddfan psychiatric unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in February 2011.  The café is run by a small staff team and a dedicated group of KIM volunteers. We are open to the public from 9.00am-4.00pm, Monday-Friday but are hoping to extend our hours in the future to meet customer needs. We offer a telephone order service to ensure there is no waiting time. We are also able to offer lunchtime buffets for large numbers of customers with a little advanced notice.

Our Menu consists of a wide variety of freshly prepared sandwiches and wraps, hot paninis, sausage and bacon baps, baked potatoes with a selection of fillings, and delicious soup. There is also a wide assortment of cakes and other sweet snacks available. The café still needs equipment such as a coffee machine, catering fridge and baked potato oven, and we welcome any donations to help us offer a wider service. Alongside the café is a small shop that caters for hospital patients, staff and visitors offering toiletries, snacks, fizzy drinks etc.

We are always looking for more volunteers to help out with the running of Café KIM and everyone is welcome, you don’t have to be trained as a KIM volunteer to help out.  It is a great way of increasing confidence, gaining new skills and meeting people.  To find out more about volunteering at Café KIM go to our ‘Become a Volunteer’ page.

We wish to gratefully acknowledge the support of Pam Wedley, a Cancer Information and Resource Facilitator at Wrexham hospital who has collected donations from her family in memory of her brother Neilson Hallam.
